Daily News N° 495 - 15th April 2014 We don’t speak enough about China but the first commercial power in the world is now focusing on marine renewable energy! With 11,000 miles of coastline and pollution that is getting a real issue, China is considered by many experts as an ideal testing-ground for ocean-energy technologies.
Daily News N° 494 - 14th April 2014 Friday's report on Thetis focussed on what we felt were the biggest issues - France's Round 2 results and the tidal turbine pilot farms projects for the Alderney Race and the Fromveur. The show was also the venue for a wide range of additional press releases that form part of the necessary reporting of the event. The potentially significant ones concerned Alderney.
Daily News N° 493 - 11th April 2014 Now firmly on the calendar as THE event for marine renewables in France, this year's event lived up to the expectations of all. The emergent industry in France has to a large degree coalesced around West Normandy on the one hand and the Pays de la Loire region on the other. The cities of Cherbourg in the first case, and Nantes/Saint Nazaire on the other are the regional cheerleaders. For British readers, we should make clear that Nantes and St Nazaire are separate geographical and legal entities, but the port goes by the joint name. After Brest last year, the move to Cherbourg this year was no real surprise, and the announcement that the 2015 event would be in Nantes surprised no-one either, and, to general relief, is much less difficult to reach than either Brest or Cherbourg.  Shows almost always seem to throw up moods. At last year's International Tidal Energy Summit we published an article that caused something of a stir at the time, commenting on the generally downbeat, almost negative, atmosphere there. This is what we felt about the atmosphere at Thetis.
Daily News N° 492 - 7th April 2014 To-morrow sees the opening of the annual conference of SER (Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables -roughly  the French RenewableUK) as a curtain raiser to THETIS EMR 2014 - the leading marine renewables event in France. With 262 exhibitors and an expected 4000+ visitors from a modest standing start in Bordeaux in January 2012 this is a great achievment that does credit to its organisers generally and the tireless Christophe Peseux specifically.. To-day we are publishing a preview.
Daily News N° 497 - 17th April 2014 Well aware that this subject is less on people's lips than its real importance to our industry requires, we are continuing with our monthly summary of news from the sector. Marine Renewables need storage at both extremes. If there is excess production the energy needs to be stored; if there is mittle or no production then it needs to be released. If this does or cannot happen, the energy companies and the grid operators are in an impossible position and losing money.
Navitus Bay OWF and more....

Daily News N° 490 - 2nd April 2014 April 9th and 10th of next week sees the third iteration of France's leading marine renewable energy event Thétis, held this year in the West Normandy city of Cherbourg - home to France's nascent tidal energy industry because of the proximity of the Alderney Race (Raz Blanchard). This week, we are therefore giving priority to news that has ...

LANGLEE rides the Canary waves

Daily News N° 462 - 20th February 2014 As we have commented before, wave energy news is like buses...nothing for months then three already this month. We have already reported on the AW Energy Wave Roller and on the OPT deal with Lockheed Martin in Australia. Now we have the Norwegian/Spanish Langlee Wave Power planning a series of projects in the Canary Islands.
